Best Time to Travel: Southern Africa is a year-round destination. The best safari and game watching months are during the dry season from June through October. The graceful antelope are a highlight of Kruger National Park and can be best viewed during the months of July through September when vegetation is sparse.

Botswana offers year-round wildlife viewing. It is easier to spot big game animals like elephants, lions, and wildebeest during the dry season of May to October. A lack of rainfall causes animals to gather around watering holes and rivers. However, the wet season of November to April brings the arrival of newborn animals such as antelope and warthogs. The lush new grass growth of the wet season attracts wildlife. Because of this, it’s possible to see predator-prey interactions during these months.

In Cape Town, migratory whales arrive along the coastline from July to September. And finally, the Cape Winelands offer world-class food and wine experiences best enjoyed in late June to August.

The Iguazu Falls are stunning any time of year. The ideal time to visit is from April to May and from September to October to avoid the warmer temperatures and largest crowds.

The Atacama Desert of Chile is one of the driest places on the earth, making it a year-round destination. The summer months do sizzle during the day, while the nights are cool and breezy.

Best Time to Travel: The best wildlife viewing months in Kenya are during the dry season from late June to October. The wildebeest migration usually reaches the Masai Mara in July and remains until October when they move back to the Serengeti in Tanzania. Wildlife viewing is good year-round, but this can differ for some parks.

December to February sees the birth of new zebra and wildebeest so you may have the opportunity to see these young take their first few steps! Certain parks in Tanzania also have a short dry period in January and February between the short rains of November/December and the long rains of March to May.

June to October can be a busier time of year due to the Great Migration, however, this is also the best time to see much of the wildlife gathering around remaining waterholes due to the low rainfall throughout the winter.
