Itinerary:

DAY 1: Liberia, Costa Rica - Rio Celeste

Depart Singapore for Liberia, Costa Rica.

Upon arrival, meet your local guide and driver and enjoy a private transfer with a professional driver to Rio Celeste Hideaway Hotel from Liberia. (Approx. 1 hour 30 min journey)

DAY 2: Rio Celeste

Take in a four-hour guided rainforest hike through the Tenorio Volcano National Park today. You´ll experience the wealth of flora and fauna of this area, culminating in an astounding view of the main attraction - the Rio Celeste waterfall and river. You´ll also see the teñideros, the place where the river takes on a magical colour.

Please note: It is possible that during extreme weather conditions of constant, long-lasting, heavy rains, the river may lose its colouration due to mud carried in the water. However, a few hours (5 or 6) of calm weather can restore the expected colouration. With this eventual exception mentioned above, The Rio Celeste can be visited at any time of the year.

DAY 3: Rio Celeste To Arenal

Meet your local guide and driver for a private vehicle transfer from Rio Celeste to La Fortuna.

Under the glow of the evening sky, head out on a privately guided, two-hour tour to discover the Arenal jungle as its nocturnal inhabitants begin to awaken. Setting out as dusk begins, witness the wonder of Arenal at sunset, a time of great activity within the rainforest.

During these twilight hours, you will see a range of animals that are not typically seen during daylight hours, and a number of diurnal animals behaving quite differently. DAY 4: Arenal, Costa Rica

Home to a wide range of wildlife where natural wonders abound, join your specialist guide and driver on a private tour of two of Arenal' most impressive highlights. Experience the rainforest and begin by tracking along hanging bridges high in the canopy, aiming to catch a glimpse of the incredible fauna from insects as small as leaf-cutter ants to mammals as large as sloths, with spiders, lizards and toucans in between as you explore this renowned two-mile circuit, then enjoy a tasty picnic lunch before transferring to Arenal Volcano.

Between 1968 and 2010 this volcano was among the most active in the world, but in recent years it has laid silent, today affording you the perfect opportunity to explore its unique ecosystem. This portion of the day' adventure is not challenging; instead, it is an opportunity to spot wildlife and learn about the many rare and endemic species, plants included, that make the northern lowlands of Arenal one of the most bio-diverse places on Earth. Though every exploration is unique, dart frogs, snakes, vultures, and blue morpho butterflies may be spotted, along with an incredible array of tropicbirds, the blue-crowned motmot and collared aracari being two of the regions more famed, if rarest, inhabitants.

DAY 5: Arenal, Costa Rica

DAY 7: Tamarindo

Atop ocean kayaks (single or double), explore the mangroves and estuaries of Tamarindo - a paradise for outdoor enthusiasts. Gliding quietly through the canal system on a kayak is the ideal way to spot wildlife; the absence of noisy motors improves the likelihood of spotting a diverse range of animals native to the region which include howler monkeys, sloths, iguanas, and an incredible range of insects and birds.

After approximately one hour of paddling, you will break on the edge of the shore for a light snack and refreshments before carrying onward to an area declared a Wetland of International Importance by Ramsar as it is the primary nesting site for leatherback turtles (they are typically seen during February) and home to no fewer than 174 species of animals.

With plenty of opportunities for excellent photographs, be sure to bring your camera on this scenic tour of the Tamarindo mangroves and estuaries! Upon completion of the tour, you will be returned to your hotel.

DAY 8: Tamarindo
